Biography

Isaac was baptized 19 Aug 1753 by Rev. Williams in the nearby Northford Congregational Church. The baptismal record does not specifically say that he was the son of Josiah and Phebe, but their other children were baptized there, as well as some of the children of Josiah and Lydia, who died in 1751, so Lydia was not the mother of Isaac.[1]

On February 20, 1775, Isaac married Thankful Maltbie in Goshen, Litchfield County, Connecticut Colony.[2]

The couple would have at least eight children, including:

1. Phebe Bartholomew (1776-1850)
2. Jehiel Bartholomew (1780-1846)
3. Sabra Bartholomew (1784-1860)
4. Isaac Bartholomew (1794-1882)

During the Revolutionary War, Isaac served in the Continental Army's 17th Connecticut Regiment under Col. Sheldon and Capt. Barns.[3]

In 1790, Isaac and Thankful lived in Wallingford, New Haven County, Connecticut, with their eight children.[4]

In 1800, Isaac and Thankful lived with 4 boys and 2 girls in Wallingford, New Haven County, Connecticut.[5]

In 1810, Isaac and Thankful lived with two sons and two daughters in Wallingford, Connecticut.[6]

Isaac served as a sergeant - based on his prior duty in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War - in Benedict's Regiment of the New York Militia during the War of 1812.[7]

In 1820, Isaac and Thankful were empty nesters living on their farm in Eden, New York.[8]

In 1830, Isaac and Thankful were still living on their farm in Eden, New York. Living with them were a couple in their 30's and six children (probably one of Isaac's and Thankful's children and his/her spouse plus six of their grandchildren).[9]

In 1840, Isaac and Thankful (both in their 80's) lived on their farm in Evans, New York, with a middle-aged couple and seven children.[10]

Isaac passed away intestate on February 11, 1841. Probate of his estate was on May 7, 1841.[11]
