Biography

Betsey was born in 2 Aug 1744, to Benjamin and Dorothy Boyton. She married to Dr. William Smith in 2 Dec 1761. They moved the family from Kingston to Gilmanton in 1768. She passed on from this life on 5 Dec 1807 at age 63

Notes

Deacon Ebenezer Bachelder (17), son of Nathaniel (1), was a farmer and lived at East Kingston. He married at East Kingston Feb 1, 1732/3, Dorothy Boynton, (dau. of William & Joanna Stevens), who was b. in Newbury, Mass. Dec 12, 1715, and was living at the date of her husband's will. He and his wife were admitted to the Kingston Church Jul 18, 1736, he became an original member of the East Kingston Church Jul 17, 1739, and was chose deacon there Mar 1, 1759.
Will of Ebenezer of East Kingston, yeoman, Jan 27, 1780 - Dec 15, 1784, mentions wife Dorothy, sons Nation, Nathaniel, Ebenezer, Josiah; dau. Betty (wife of Dr. Wm. Smith); dau. Dorothy Bachelder; dau. Ann (wife of David Bonton); dau. Joanna Bachelder.
An Extract stated to the "From and old bible" - read (probably not an exact copy): Nathan Batchelder b. 1732. William died in the French war. Nath'l, Richard, Betty b. 13 Aug 1744 d 5 Dec 1807, wife of Dr. Wm Smith. Ebenezer d. at sea, Josiah Dolly, Nancy, Joanna. (C. H. Batchelder - p19)
