Biography

John Bayless was born in Tennessee.
John Bayless was born on December 13, 1780, in Washington, Tennessee,UNited States, the son of Col Samuel Gilbert Bayless and Mary (Nodding) Bayless.
He married Sarah "Sally" Hawkins on October 2, 1802 in Grainger, Tennessee and they had six children during their marriage.[1]
She died in 1842 and he then married Sarah "Sally" Scruggs Gordon on October 27, 1842, in Greene, Tennessee.[2]
John died on May 2, 1862, in Greene, Tennessee, at the age of 81 years, and was buried in New Salem Cemetery in Jonesboro, Washington County.
