Married Mary Polly Bell and had a large family one son b: 1824 in TN was John Hampton Bennett. He moved his family from TN to Illinois in 1835 and died soon after making the move. His wife immediately joined the "Latter Day Saints" (Mormons) and went first to Iowa with her brother in law William Bennett Jr and then out to Utah with her three daughters and her youngest son. Their older children stayed in Illinois and John Hampton Bennett moved to Kentucky where his uncle Elisha and his 1st cousins had settled. He married there in 1846 and with his 1st cousin Oliver Hampton Bennett traveled to and settled in Sullivan Co, MO for at least 2 decades after his marriage. His first son was born there in 1850 and named for Oliver Hampton Bennett (and himself partially) Many records prove the close ties between all these family members.
