Joane de Berkeley was born circa 1329 at of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England. [1]
She and Thomas de Handlo obtained a marriage license on 17 January 1337; Date of Dispensation for being related in the 4th degree of kindred. No issue.[2]
Joane de Berkeley married Sir Reynold de Cobham, 1st Lord Cobham, Admiral of the West Fleet, son of Sir Reginald Cobham and Joan d' Evere, between 1339 and 1342.[3]
They had 1 son (Sir Reynold. 2nd Lord Cobham) and 1 daughter (Joan, wife of Sir Henry de Grey).[4]
Joane de Berkeley left a will on 13 August 1369; and directed burial at Southwark, Surrey.[5] She mentioned:
She died on 2 October 1369.[6]
Her estate was probated on 23 May 1370.

[Calendar Patent Rolls EIII] 2 December 1361 Westminster. Whereas Reynold de Cobham, now deceased, enfeoffed Thomas Fitelyng of the manors of ldyngton, Estshelve and Burdefeld, county Kent, held in chief, and the said Thomas re-grant the same to him and Joan his wife, still surviving, and his heirs, and as well Thomas as Reynold and Joan entered into the manors without the king's licence, on which account they have been taken into the king's hand on the death of Reynold; he, for 10/ paid by Joan, has pardoned the trespasses and granted that she shall have the manors again to hold to her and the heirs of Reynold.
