Research Notes

John Boyer was born on 13 August 1727, died on 21 January 1777 and was buried in Saint Paul’s Church Cemetery in Amityville, Berks County, Pennsylvania. His grave inscription reads: “John Boyer was born 13 August 1727, Died 21 January 1777 - 49 years, 5 mo. 8 days.”[3]

It appears that he was the son of Johann Philip Beyer (1701-1753) and Maria Elizabeth (Beck) Beyer (1701-1753), based on the fact that Philip was the only man of the previous generation known to have also lived in Amityville, and on the fact that Philip named a son John in his will. However, no baptism record has been found for him so far.

On April 17, 1750 John Bayer and Elizabeth Speicht married in the New Hanover Lutheran Church, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

No records have been found that refer to him as John Henry. However, his uncle, Johannes Beyer (1703-1784) did name a son John Henry (no Wikitree profile) in his Oley will dated February 9, 1743 and proved the same day in Philadelphia County. The will abstract reads: “Johannes Boyer. Oley, County of Philadelphia. Husbandman. February 9, 1742/3. February 9, 1742/3. G.27. Wife and Exec: Catherine. Son: John Henry.” [4] On January 9, 1749, one John Henry Bower warranted 40 acres on the eastern boundary of what is today Alsace, Berks, and was then in Philadelphia County.[5]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

I added some research notes about him. I don't think there is any evidence that he ever went by the name "John Henry" (he's just John on his marriage record and grave, and in his father's will) and I'm wondering whether he might be confused with his first cousin John Henry, the son of his uncle Johannes (Beyer-207). Also, has any baptism record been found? If not, and if his parents arrived in Pennsylvania earlier than 1731, he might possibly have been born in Pennsylvania.

Boyer-11 and Beyer-57 appear to represent the same person because: Don't see any conflicting information here, except the spelling of the last name. Merge into Beyer as LNAB used by parents, use Boyer as current last name.

The Big Boyer book lists this man as second name Benedict rather than Henry, but that is a separate discussion & has no bearing on this merge.

Beyer-57 and Boyer-11 are the same person.

The name variation is due to the profile manager of Beyer-57 created his profile using the father's original spelling of the last name. The two profiles need to be merged to correct WikiTree.

Beyer-57 and Boyer-11 are not ready to be merged because: there is 2 much conflicting info to merge at this moment

Beyer-57 and Boyer-11 appear to represent the same person because: Apparently just a variation in spelling of last name.
