1776 Project
John Bird served with 21st Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Drummer in Rev. War who marched at the alarm on 4/19/1775 with a group of minute men under command of Capt. Samuel Payson, Col. Graton's regiment for 8 days and was honorably discharged. Fought again August 1st,1775 in Col. Joseph Reads regiment. Died of Smallpox at Soldiers Hospital in the Sewall's Point fort in the town of Brookline,Norfolk, MA before completion of second term ,according to Widow's pension completed by Joanna Esty Bird Bunce in 1837, who is buried in Pearl Street Cemetery. [1]
