Biography

Eli was born 6 Apr 1796 in Paris Hill, Oneida Co., NY.[1] He is the son of Eli Blakeslee and Lettice Curtis.[2]

On 22 Feb 1820 Eli married Emily Judd in Middlebury, Wyoming Co., New York. The couple was blessed with four children in seven years, then added another in 1843, all born in New York State. By 1850 the family had removed to Woodford Co., in central Illinois. By 1859 they had relocated again to the southern tip of Illinois, where Emily passed away on 11 April, 1859 in Du Quoin, Ill. Eli passed away 7 Jan 1866. [3]

Research Notes

The parent child relationship has been in question regarding Marilla, listed here as the eldest child, born in 1815. A single, unsourced, note on Find a Grave[4] states that Eli Jr. and Emily were married in Middlebury, Wyoming, New York on 22 Feb 1820.

An authored history[5]lists 7 children born to Eli Jr. and Emily, four sons and three daughters. Among the seven is notably the absence of Marilla.

Further examination of records needs to, and will be, undertaken.
