Research notes

  • http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch "I am also told that she (Mary Blankenship) was married to Daniel Blankenship (s/o Conley Blankenship). If she were, she would have been having children by him at the same time he was married to Sophia Lester. This situation would not be uncommon or wouldn’t be unusual but it makes it difficult to document biological parents. The censuses list them in the same area. It lists Daniel and wife Sophie and children living near Mary and her children. Aunt Ocie said that she remembers Adams mother as being a Lockhart, Presley or possibly Jane Wolford. Pauline Grizzel S. said that Ocie told her once that it was a Hatfield... and that there was Hatfield’s on the Blankenship side of the family. I have had others tell me that he was a child of another of Dan’s mistresses named Spicy Blankenship… I know nothing about her either. I was also told that Dan had another mistress Nancy Nanny Belle Christian and they had several children together too. My gr. Aunt says that the children listed under Mary were Adam's brothers and sisters. And that she remembers Daniel and Sophia Lester Blankenship’s children as being Adam’s half brothers and sisters."
