Biography

Pleasant was born about 1806. Pleasant Blevins ... He passed away about 1880. 1850 - Whitley county, Whitley, Kentucky

Delilah (Blevins) King was born on Jan. 4, 1828 in Wayne Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Pleasant Blevins (1806-aft 1880) and Elizabeth Abbott (1810-abt 1872 ?). She was not Cherokee as some family trees claim.

Delilah's father Pleasant was born in 1806 in Wayne Co., Kentucky. The county had been created just a few years earlier (1800) from Pulaski and Cumberland Counties.

The year and place of Pleasant's death is uncertain. The 1880 US Census shows that at the age of 76 he was living in Buncombe, Pulaski Co., KY so Pleasant probably died between 1880-1900. There is a Buncombe Baptist Church and cemetery located just south of Eubank, Pulaski Co., KY.

Notice; The 43rd Annual Blevins Family Reunion is being held Saturday July 29th at 11:00AM in the Jamestown Tennessee Community Center at the York Institute in Jamestown Tenn. I'm told that this could very well be the last such reunion. For more info call Martha Cain at (865) 671-0453 or Charlotte Horne at (803) 438-3701. Martha and Charlotte advise bring the family and a covered dish to share for the potluck meal. This reunion is to honor the genealogy done years ago by Laccie W. and Ray E. Blevins who published the fine book entitled "Jonathan Blevins Sr. of Virginia and His Descendants" which is now long out of print.

Pleasant Blevins born 1806 is not the same Pleasant Blevins in Crawford County, AR. All records show born 1826 as shown in census records 1850, 1860 and tombstone and other records. May be related to the other Pleasant somehow as it is a common name along with Talton in that family. He is my great-great grandfather. My DNA on gedcom.
