Biography

Saartje Hendrickse Bont aka Sara|Zara|Zaartjen Bond

Saartje was born circa 1679 at Schenectady, Albany County, Province of New York. Church baptism records for Schenectady and Albany for that time period do not survive. Her parents were Hendrik Lambertse Bont and Geesje <Jans> Jansen.

Saartje Bont married Arie van de Merck on 27 August 1699 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York. The marriage record indicates that she was born in Schenectady and was living at Kingston.[1] Arie was born about 1677 at Marbletown, Ulster County, New York and died about 1742 at Ulster County, New York at 65 years of age; he was a son of Thomas Van Der Marck and Jacomyntje Van Kuykendaal.

' Saartjie Hendrickse Bond van der Mark (Bond-2646) is the equivalent of the English Sara...her husband was "van der Mark" (with variations) according to KRDC records. The name was not concatenated yet to "Vandermark", a more modern name form.

Before merging, confirm what the LNAB should be. Elsewhere I've seen that "van" should be excluded, but I've also seen resistance to that policy.
