Biography

Ruth Bonney was christened April 12, 1713, in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts, a daughter of John Bonney and Elizabeth (Bishop) Bonney. [1] Ruth married first, Samuel Parrish. [2] After his death, on September 30, 1736, in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts, Ruth married Andrew Linsey, (aka Lindsey) son of Thomas Linsey.[3]

Researcher's Notes

Some say Ruth Boney's (aka Bonney) great grandfather was Henry "Harry" Samson, a passenger on the Mayflower.[4] He settled at Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts and married Ann Plummer in 1636. He was of the Duxbury military company in 1643, and died there in 1684.[5] Henry made his will on December 24, 1684. His daughter, Dorcas Sampson, who was mentioned in his Will, was born about 1652 and died before July 29, 1695.

The dispute is whether Dorcas Sampson married John Bonney or Thomas Bonney. "Dorcas married Thomas Bonney by 1684 and had three children." [6] Thomas Bonney, was the son of Thomas Bonney [7]

The Find A Grave memorial for Ruth's father, John Bonney [8] indicates that he was the son of Thomas Bonney and Mary Elizabeth (Hunt) Bonney, and that he married Elizabeth Bishop, daughter of James Bishop.

There is a false Find-A-Grave memorial for "Ruth Parris" with a 1769 death date in Louisa County, Virginia, and the 1699 Massachusetts birth date.[9] This ignores her second marriage to Andrew Lindsey in Massachusetts in 1736, because Samuel Parris of Virginia wrote his will in 1759.[10] The memorial's manager refuses to correct it.

There is a dispute over Ruth Bonney/Baxter - I believe it's the case of a same-named persons that have been conflated. This profile is badly in need of research notes and I apologize that I haven't had the bandwidth to add them. If you are familiar with the case, please add your notes here! I would really appreciate the help.
