"John Gorges had issue Raph, which had issue John, which married Agnes, daughter and co-heire of John Doddescomb.... John Gorges had issue Raph, which had issue John, which by Elizabeth his wief had issue John, which by Leva his wief, daughter and heire of John Wibbery, had issue Jone, wief of John Bonvill, of Shut, [which] had issue Ann, wife of Philip Copleston of Copleston, since which time this land hath contynewed in the name & famyly of Copleston..."^[1]
