Warning: Grubbs' book might not be accurate. Here is a review from GoogleBooks at https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Boone_family.html?id=xnIZAQAAMAAJ.

"This original book by Spraker has always been called the Boone Bible. Great source and related information. However my Mother just received a WB/denial by Mr. Licklighter from the National Society Daughters of The American Revolution because of this book. He states the book does not show sources clear enough to grant it's acceptance. BEWARE PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS AND THOSE DOING SUPPLEMENTALS. You will have to show more proof to get approved on this line. Dated: 11/5/2013."

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Having read Margaret R. Schneider's book, Etheldred Boone and his Descendants,, my cousin Bobby Boone, grandson of John Marvin Boone, did a 37 chromosome Y-DNA test at FamilyTree DNA on the Etheldred Boone line to determine whether we were of the same or a different haplogroup from Daniel Boone, the explorer. The results showed that we did not share a close Y-DNA connection to the Daniel Boone/Squire Boone line; our families were in different haplogroups. The Boones that we did match were several sons of John Boone (1749-1826 of Hertford Co. NC) (matched Matthias & Allen Boone and 2 of Allen's sons). I also have some autosomal DNA matches to this line on Ancestry.com. I saw recently on the Boone FamilyTree DNA account that another Y-DNA match to Etheldred was John Phillip Joiner Boone. Despite this helpful DNA information, I have not been able to find records linking Etheldred to any particular Boone line. I would be interested in any replies or comments.

Boone-1367 and Boone-3943 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate - please read notes parents need to be corrected to Son of Jonathan Morgan Boone and Mary Nancy (Carter) Boone before this can be merged. He is not the son of Israel.

There is also a merge pending for Mary Nancy Carter.

I don't think John. Philip Boone-1367 belongs here, locations are different than the rest of the family, he is not listed on Find a grave. If you can remove him from these parents let me know and I will be happy to help find the correct parents.

Thanks Deb

I found it John Boone-109 is the father and Mary Carter Carter-4817 is this parents.

There is also a pendinG merge for Mary

I would be interested to know who you believe are the correct parents as I too have not found any convincing evidence that John Phillip Joiner Boon is Etheldred Boone's father (but I haven't ruled it out either since he is one of several Y-DNA matches to Etheldred at Family Tree DNA).

There is a memorial in Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery that claims this person (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/27801264/john-boone) is buried there. The FAG notes however does not have him as son of Jonathan Boone and Nancy Carter, rather John is said to be the son of a Jacob Boon and Catherine. My interest is that John is a cousin of mine. Therefore If he is son of Jonathan, then I am a cousin of Daniel Boone the frontiersman, if he is son of Jacob then I am not. I am not smart enough to be able to sort this out so I would love to get feedback from people who are smarter than me to help.

Boone-2843 and Boone-1367 appear to represent the same person because: same/similar dates, same wife and son
