Henry Culpepper Bowers was born on 16 September 1865 in Union County, North Carolina, United States, son of Moses Bowers and Sarah Sikes. In 1870, Henry was living in Almond, Stanly, North Carolina. Henry was united in marriage to Nancy T. Lowder,Daughter of David Tilman Lowder and Elizabeth Ellen Austin Lowder in Stanly County, North Carolina on 12 Sep 1888. To this union was born Ernest and Dera. Nancy passed away in 1897. He then was married to Lilly Florence Crowell,daughter of William Franklin Crowell and Mary S. Polk Crowell in Cabarrus County, North Carolina on 19 Oct 1898. To this union was born eight children: Ira, Henry, Edgar, Claude, Crowell, Louise, Crawford and Charlie. Henry died on 20 September 1948 in Norwood, Stanly County, North Carolina, aged 83.
