Biography

Emma was born on 8 Dec 1859 to Robert Boyer and Jane Wroe. She was christened on 15 January 1860 at Tintwistle, Cheshire. Emma Boyer's birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1859 in the Chorlton district.[1]

She grew up in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire (1861, 1871, 1881 census). Her family working in the cotton mills, herself a cotton weaver. In 1883 she immigrated to the United States. Where she met (her friend or fiancée?) Uriah Howard who had immigrated the year before she did.
