Biography

Thomas, son of Roger Bradshaigh, who married the daughter of John Osbaldston "6 Rich. II", married Alice Sherburne in Haigh, Lancashire, England.[1][2]

"Sir Thomas, II Hen. IV. who was knighted" was succeeded by his son James. Thomas and Alice also had "a daughter, married to Sir John St. John, of Bletso".[1]

Research Notes

Dates:

6 Rich. II (marriage of Thomas's parents)[1]
  • 6 Richard II: 22 June 1382-21 June 1383[3]
II Hen. IV,[1] "living in the 11th of Henry IV."[2]
  • 11 Henry IV: 30 September 1409-29 September 1410[4]
3 Hen. VI (from wording, appears to be either when son James was born or when he succeeded Thomas as "Lord of Haigh")[1][2]
  • 3 Henry VI: 1 September 1424-31 August 1425[5]

Upon saving on 24 May 2018, a warning was received: "A father's death date (Bradshaigh-10 died 1426) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Bradshaw-1919 born 1433)."

Resolved by removing 1426 as death date for Thomas in datafield. Text had said "He died in 1426, Haigh, Lancashire, England.[citation needed]"

Another problem is that the profile for James (their son) shows a 1410 birth year while the text said that Thomas and Alice married in 1425. The datafield says they married in 1405. Neither date has a source (sources are also needed for 1410 and 1433 as their children's birth years).

Daughter Alice

The profile for Alice (Sherburne) Bradshaw was detached as the mother of Alice Bradshaw who married John St John. Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry (III:478 SAINT JOHN 11) does not name her mother, just that she is a daughter of Thomas Bradshagh, Knt., of Haigh, Lancashire. In a discussion in Soc-Gen-Medieval, he cites the following:[6]
Four separate visitation records attest that John Saint John married Alice Bradshagh, daughter of Thomas Bradshagh, of Haigh, Lancashire:
The 2014 SGM discussion includes an updated entry for John Saint John (updating information about his 2nd wife; the updated entry does not update Alice's parents, still showing only Alice's father).[6]

anyone know what Isaac's comment "Yorkshire, West Riding." might mean? And, if it has meaning, what the source is?

It was pointed out that there is no proof that Thomas married Alice Sherburne (see comments on Sherburne-4) & she was disconnected as his wife.
