Mary de Breuse had the manor of Rouse Hall in Suffolk as her maritagium (Ref: Copinger [Rouse Hall], citing a fine levied of that manor in
1288). The de Weyland manors of Blaxhall, Middleton, Swilland, Campsey [from de Moese] and others, together with the de Breuse manor of Rouse Hall, passed to Sir Richard de Weyland, son of John de Weyland and Mary de Breuse, and thereafter via his daughter and heiress Cecily to de Burghersh and (subsequently) le Despenser. [1]
Married in or before 1288 (date of fine) to John de Weyland (died 1312), of Blaxhall, Ashbocking, etc., Suffolk.[2]
[Maybe] Their son was Sir Richard de Weyland (died 1319)... see this page, which cites an IPM showing Sir Richard as son of Thomas.[3]
Sir Richard de Weyland (died 1319), of Blaxhall, Rouse Hall in Clopton, Suffolk, married Joan [Ufford[4]]. Their daughter and sole heiress, Cecily de Weyland, married Sir Bartholomew de Burghersh, 4th Lord Burghersh, before 10 May1335.[2]
This profile for Mary has been detached/re-attached as daughter of Sir Richard de Breuse (died 1292), of Stinton in Salle, Norfolk and his wife Alice le Rus several times. A January 2020 G2G discussion about Mary led to this image of the fine with the comment that it says, in part, "in free marriage with Mary daughter of the aforesaid Richard and Alice". So her profile has been re-attached (again).
↑ This online tree also shows that Thomas (father of Sir Richard) is son of John de Weyland who married [maybe] Mary, daughter Richard de Brewes and Alice de Ros (see this page, accessed 16 June 2018).

Hi again! I'm reviewing the Magna Carta trail that Richard Brewes is in. When the trail was developed, Mary got detached as his daughter, but after discussion was reattached. I think that was a mistake & I intend to detach her again. The 2000 SGM post by Richardson is not sufficient support that Mary who married Weyland is the daughter of Richard and Alice considering she is not listed as such in Richardson's 2013 Royal Ancestry.
Poor Mary! I hope someone will someday figure out her parents so we can attach them! If only she could talk to us and tell us who they were! Meanwhile, Liz, go ahead and proceed. Thanks!
Darlene - I think I found part of the reason why Richardson didn't include the line when he published ... Mary is married in or before 1288 (and profile for Richard, d 1319, has his birth at 1280), but the find is from the link you gave me, moving up the line to Sir Thomas (d 1291), husband of Margery, I found the note: "Douglas Richardson in June 2002 found some IPMs to identify Sir Thos. Weyland as the father of Richard."
based on the info in SGM & what was published in RA/MCA, it looks like the profile for Richard attached as son of Mary is meant to be the same person as Richard Weyland-6, father of Cecily/married Bartholomew de Burghersh, K.G.
Just re-checked. Something must have made him change his mind - Mary is not included in 2011 MCA or 2013 RA. Cecily de Weyland is (as daughter of Sir Richard de Weyland and his wife Joan), but trail continues through her husband Bartholomew de Burghersh (MCA Vol I, p 368 - Joan is identified in RA, Vol II, p 26 as daughter of Sir Robert de Ufford, 1st Lord Ufford, but still no ancestry for Cecily's father is given).
Hi Liz. My first comment was from a few years ago. I just went to see where I got that information from . . . Prior to publication of MCA by Richardson (probably around 2003-2004, possibly 2005), he asked for people to help proof-read a book. I offered & he emailed me a copy of the book (which I downloaded to a CD), and I started proofreading it. Anyway, I just pulled out the CD, and there is Mary ,,, I think the book may have been
Hi Darlene! I just looked up Richard & Alice in both Magna Carta Ancestry (2nd edition, 2011) & Royal Ancestry (2013) & neither shows a Mary for daughter of Richard & Alice. I went through the "Discoveries and Major Changes" in the front matter of Magna Carta Ancestry & didn't see anything to explain what happened to Mary.
I am removing Richard and Alice as parents. Douglas Richardson, Magna Carta Ancestry series only lists 2 sons Giles and Richard and 2 daughters Margaret and Sibyl. This is on page 388 of his book. If you have any other reliable sources that lists her, please let me know and we can add her back as a child. I am the gateway Guardian for Christopher Calthorpe and trail protector for the trail to Surety barron Richard de Clare. I am with the Magna Carta Project.
Cheers, Liz
