Mary Brereton was baptised on 28 December, 1580, at Brereton, Cheshire, England.[1]
She was the daughter of Sir William Brereton, Knt[2] and his wife, Margaret Savage.[1] Margaret was the daughter of sir John Savage, kt, and his wife, Elizabeth, daughter of the earl of Rutland.[1]
Her parents had seven children, but Mary and her youngest sibling, Sir John Brereton of Brereton, born 25 February, 1591, were the only ones to survive childhood.[1]
Mary was 16 years old when Margaret, her mother, died on 7 April, 1597.[1]
On 9 July, 1608, the Archdeaconry of Chester issued a Marriage Licence Bond for Henry Lord Brian, Baron of Incequin, to marry Mary Brereton, Spinster, daughter of Sir William Brereton of Brereton, Knt, without proclamation of banns, at Church Hulme, Cheshire; their Bondsman was Peter Walsh.[2] They married on 13 July, 1608,[1] at Brereton, Cheshire, England. Mary's husband, Henry, lord Inchiquin, was earl of Thomond after 1630.[1] He was the son of Donough O'Brien, earl of Thomond and his wife, Lady Elizabeth FitzGerald.
On 11 May, 1624, Mary's father was created lord Brereton of Leighlin in Ireland.[1]
Mary, Countess of Thomond, died in April, 1640, at age 59, at Thomond, Clare, Ireland.
