If you look at the profiles for 2 Comfort Brewster's b. in the 1740's there is a definite location of VA vs. CT. Comfort Brewster b. abt 1745 in CT Brewster-2367 and his wife Elizabeth Abell Abell-1213 had no known son named Ebenezer and has the lineage to Elder William Brewster of the Mayflower. Comfort Brewster b. abt. 1741 in VA Brewster-1174 and his wife JANE (Unknown) Brewster Unknown-200982 had a son Ebenezer Brewster III b. abt. 1773 in VA Brewster-1161. It appears Ebenezer has the correct father, but incorrect mother attached. Please review and replace Elizabeth (Abell) Brewster with Jane (Unknown) Brewster Unknown-200982 as Ebenezer's mother. Thanks in advance.

George Brewster.

Can you tell me if Elizabeth Brewster Adell is Ebenezer Brewster III mother or not, If so how could it be that she is Comfort Brewster 1174 wife, when she is Comfort Brewster 2367 wife? Thanks .George Brewster.

Trying to find out if this lineage has in fact been traced back to Elder William Brewster and approved by the Mayflower Society.

Thanks for your help. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

I descend from Ebenezer Brewster, b 1703, grandfather of this Ebenezer III.

As far as I know, there is no GSMD official lineage including Ebenezer b. 1703. There are many problems with documentation, including the fact that he abandoned his wife Elizabeth DeWolf Brewster in 1729 and she divorced him in 1739 when he was presumed dead. I descend from Charles, Ebenezer and Elizabeth's son, so my line is less problematic.

In terms of y-DNA, I am a descendant of Elder William Brewster. My y-67 test matches many descendants of William Brewster's sons Jonathan and Love. Recently, I was allowed to join the Mayflower DNA Project because of my y-67 test and willingness to upgrade to the highest-level test called BIGY-700. In this test, I match two men who are GSMD members and the three of us together created the standard for all male Brewsters with Elder William's DNA.

So, while we have proven with genetics that Ebenezer's (b 1703) line is 100% descended from Elder William Brewster, each generation-step of the way from there needs to be approved with birth, marriage, and death records for the male Brewster and his spouse. We cannot do this even with Ebenezer as no death record exists. My line goes for 3 more generations in Vermont that I can find records for, but then I hit the "no documents" problem in Lower Canada and New York State from 1799-1860. So, I cannot join GSMD based on paper.
