CLAIM NUMBER 22579:IRVIN P. GREEN and four children:
WARTRACE, TENNNESSEE
Rejected. Claimant, his Father and Grandfather were born in Warren
County, Tennessee remote from CHEROKEE Domain. Their names do
not appear on the rolls of 1835 nor 1851. Claimant's Great-Grandfather,
the ancestor whom he alleges CHEROKEE descent was but a 1/4
CHEROKEE, born in 1777, and died in Warren County, Tennessee in
1861. His name was ABSOLOM (sic) BROWN, does not appear on the
rolls, of 1835 or 51, and there is no evidence to show that he ever lived
with the tribe or was recognized as being a member of the tribe at the
time of the Treaty of 1835-6 or since. Nor does it appear that IRWIN P.
GREEN, or his ancestors back to ABSOLOM BROWN were ever thus
recognized.
ABSOLOM BROWN was born in Pendleton District, now Pickens County,
South Carolina in 1779. His Father was JOHN BROWN, who was bom in
Maryland and moved with his Father to Washington County, North
Carolina, now Knox County Tennessee. JOHN BROWN was the Son of
PETER BROWN.
NOTE:This relationship is not generally agreed on as a number of
people feel that PETER BROWN was not the Father of JOHN BROWN.
