Biography

Francis, son of Samuel Brown and Mercy Tuttle, was born 7 October 1679 in New Haven, Connecticut.^{[1] [2]}

Francis married 1) Hannah Alling on 11 April 1705 in New Haven, Connecticut. Hannah was born Mar 23 1678 in New Haven, CT and died Dec 9 1725 ^{[2] [3][4][5]}

Francis Brown married 2) Elizabeth Rosewell on 22 December 1726 in New Haven, Connecticut. Elizabeth was born Sep 5 1690 in New Haven, CT, died Oct 3 1742 in New Haven, CT ^{[2][13] [14]}

Francis Brown died 22 September 1741, age 62, ^[15][16] and is buried at Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven.^[17]

Research Notes

'Allen' source states that 'this' Capt Francis and Hannah had a son Isaac, probably twin with Timothy who died Nov 21, 1738, age 22.^[4] He is not listed in the 'Jacobus' source with 'this' Francis and Hannah's family, as stated above. There is a 'Tombstone Inscription' that states Isaac Brown, son of Capt Francis and Mrs Hannah Brown, died Nov 21 1788, age 22, buried in the same lot as Francis and 2nd wife Elizabeth. ^[18]

There is also a 2nd tombstone is the same lot for Herriot Brown, dau of Capt Francis and Mrs Hannah Brown, who died May 16 1794, age 12 years, 6 months. This person is not listed in 'Allen' or 'Jacobus' source, and by age, could be sibling of Isaac ^[19]

Find A Grave: Memorial #134332375 is for Capt Francis Brown 1743 - 1810, buried in Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven, CT, married to Hannah Atwater 1744-1823. They are buried in Plot 24 Linden Ave West, which is the Lot in the 'Tombstone Inscription'. Children Isaac 1767-1788 and Harriot 1782-1794 are linked and match the children listed in the 'Tombstone Inscription', so these children are not children of this Capt Francis Brown married to Hannah Alling. Francis and Hannah would have died by the time these children were born, also.
