Can Paul James Balfour "The Scots Peerage " 2nd Edition be trusted at all?

According to the 1st Edition writen by Robert Douglas (not the Robert Douglas that's linked to the 2nd Edition) you will have to say we have a problem! The 2nd Edition should be scrapped as load of junk!...seriously. There are blatant misleading quotes all over and misinformation, it's as if they are running an agenda!, am I the only one seeing this?

This may help in understanding the numbering of the Bruce's of Clackmannan.

1. Robert King of Scots The Robert the Bruce 1st of Clackmannan. 2. David II Bruce, King of Scots 2nd of Clackmannan. b. 1324-1371 3. Sir Robert Bruce, 3rd of Clackmannan. b. 1303 d. 1367 4. Sir Edward "Thomas" Bruce, 4th of Clackmannan. b. 1318 d. 1359 5. Sir Robert Bruce, 5th of Clackmannan. b. Abt. 1340 d. 1393 6. Sir David Bruce, 6th of Clackmannan. b. 1387 d. 1496 7. Sir David Bruce, 7th of Clackmannan, b. 14? d. 1497

This lineage is from the Chambers Encyclopedia. Hope a light bulb 💡...

Chamber’s Encyclopedia is not a reliable source. It may possibly give clues worth following up when someone has time, but no more than that. Charter evidence suggests strongly that some of the lineage it gives is wrong, as you will be aware from comments on the profile of King Robert the Bruce.

Sorry I'm not seeing what you are seeing, the Charters say that David Bruce was married to Agnes Redbeugh and the charters are incorrect in saying that David 6th was married twice as we know that David of Wester Kennet/Green was married to 1. Jannet Stirling

2. Marion Herries Look you are going to have to explain to me why you consider the Chambers Encyclopedia to be unreliable? I can't find one mistake! When you look at just the charters, I have no problem either, have serious concerns over the interpretation's and quotes So no I disagree with you, the Chambers Encyclopedia looks perfect and the way the tree is currently run is incorrect.
