According to Burke’s Peerage and Clan MacFarlane, John Bruce, 3rd of Cultmalindie, is the son of Lucas Bruce, 2nd of Cultmalindie and Christian Ruthven.[5][6][7] He married Euphemia Elphinstone, daughter of Alexander Elphinstone, 1st Lord Elphinstone and Elizabeth Barlow.[8]
