Baptism records have been found for four of the children of Penelope and Sir Edwin: Samuel (1615), Richard (1616), Edwin (1617) and Mercy (1618). These children were all baptised at Ombersley, Worcestershire. They were reputed to have had five sons and three daughters. [1]
In 1628/29 Penelope received a bequest in the will of her mother in law Mercy Culpepper. She was mentioned as "the widow of my son Sir Edwin (dec)".[2]
Penelope died in Sep 1680 after a long widowhood and was buried at Wickhamford, Worcestershire on 21 Sep 1680. [3]A fine marble tomb commemorates both her and her husband Sir Edwin Sandys and the register notes that she was buried in the chancel. [4]
