Josiah was born in 1711 to Isaac Bumpus and Mary Perry at Rochester in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1] He married Hannah Bumpas there on December 21, 1732[2] and they had at least seven children together.[3]
In his will Isaac mentions Josiah as of East Haddam, CT. The will is dated 1759.
Josiah, Sr. lived at Wareham, MA., Lyme, CT., and East Haddam, MA.
Josiah was on meeting house committee 1744. He evidently moved to Lyme, CT, as there are many land transfers to and from him in the years 1752-1766. One transfer in 1758 from Josiah to Isaac, His father Samuel Olmstead sold land to Josiah in East Haddam, CT October 10, 1757. In both cases, Josiah is spoken of as Lyme.
Josiah died at Plainfield, Connecticut in 1757.[4]

(Richard Morse and Jennifer are 9th cousins.) These matches have been independently verified by via the MyHeritage Chromosome Browser. Their most-recent common ancestors are John Bumpas and Sarah Unknown, the 7x great grandparents of Dorothy (Driscoll) Douglas and 8x great grandparents of both Richard Morse and Jennifer Doane.
