Richard de Burgh (the Red Earl) was probably the most powerful man in Ireland in his time, connected by marriage to most of the other Norman families in Ireland.
A brief biography is included in James Wills' Lives of Illustrious and Distinguished Irishmen, from the earliest times to the present period (Dublin: Macgregor, Polson 1840-47), pp.372-3:

I have edited his title (I am assuming he was listed as the 3rd earl because that is the title Douglas Richardson gives to him, which appears to be an error) but that is the least of the problems this profile has. It is on the Ireland Project's to-do list , but that is a very long list. If anyone wants to update Richard's profile in the meantime, please do.
The Ireland Project has been added as a co-manager of this historically significant profile, which currently has no PM with pre-1500 certification and needs to be updated. It will be placed on the project's 'to do' list.
