DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Dorcas by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Dorcas:
Dorcas (Green) Buss and William Buss had a son, Joseph, who died 2 Oct 1677, Because of their marriage date, he would have been young at death, See Tolman, George. Lizzie, Thank you so much for this information. I've reviewed the information on Dorcas Green. She did immigrate in 1634 on the ship Francis. See Hotten John Greene sailed on the same ship, so they may be related. However, Anderson (Great Migration Series) doesn't commit to any particular relationship between John and Dorcas and finds no further records for either. So proof of her parentage does not exist.
Dorcas is my 10th Great Grandmother. In my research of her I found that her Maiden name was Green. Her father was John Green, as of yet I have not been able to find who her mother was. According to the U.S. and Canada,Passenger and Immigration List Index,1500's - 1900's Dorcas Green arrived in Massachusetts in 1635 at the age of 15. According to the U.S., New England Marriages Prior to 1700 Index Dorcas and John were married in 1648.
Dorcas was not the daughter of this William, but his wife. Her LNAB at birth needs to be changed to Unknown. She needs to merge with another Dorcas, but the first step is to change LNAB
New England Marriages prior to 1700 "Jones, John (-1673) & Dorcas ___?___ (-1709), m/2 William Buss 1674; b. 1648; Cambridge/Concord."
So I fear Dorcas is still unknown. Thanks.
