Research Note: Rival Findagrave memorials complicate a resolution for this profile. #s 110598317 and 184618409 are linked as brothers both married to Neeltje Volkerts. Each has problematic data. …8409 is apparently connected to a grave and claims Doherty’s Settlers of the Beekman Patent (3:64) as its source. The problem is the bpt date Doherty uses, Apr. 10 1698, also belongs to sister Femmetje without any indication of a sibling. …8317 is not connected to a grave and is unsourced but offers useful propositions. It states birth in Brooklyn with a bpt date of Apr. 26 1702. This may provide an attribution for the unnamed child of Jacob and Marytje Buys baptized at First Brooklyn Oct. 26 1702. Added to that memorial are some details of 5 children of Jacob’s and a dod of Apr. 1777 in Hunterdon. …8409 provides citations for a seemingly complicated marital history. Doherty refers to a wife Neeltje Agatha Messler in Somerset. The memorial cites an extended article on the Bries (and var.) families for the identification of Jacob’s wife as Neeltje Volkertse Bries daughter of Volkert Hendricksen Bries and Elisabeth Paulus. Another source mentions wife Elinor in a property transaction in Somerset.
