Mary Cabell was born on February 13, 1727 (February 2, 1736 Old Style)[1]
in Goochland County, Virginia.[2]
She was the daughter of William Cabell and Elizabeth Burks.[2]
Family lore indicates that she was a fearless and celebrated horsewoman.[1]
She married William Horsley around 1744, before April 3, 1744.[1][2] William had been a tutor to her family.[1][2]
After marrying the couple lived with Mary's family for several years. Later they lived at "Centre Hill," an estate built on land given informally to the couple by William Cabell after their marriage and formally to her heirs following her death.[2]
They had four surviving children. Two children died in infancy.[3]
Mary died sometime before her husband's death in 1760.[1][2]
