Capt. Jonathan Calkins was a participant in both the Indian Wars and the Revolutionary War.
He married Lydia Smith, daughter of Nehemiah Smith, on 24 April 1764 in New London, Connecticut. [2] They had thirteen children.[3]
Captain Jonathan Caulkins responded to the Lexington Alarm. He served in the 3rd battalion under Generals Spencer & Wooster and later under Colonel Latimer's Regiment at Saratoga and under General Gates "to the Northward." He is also listed as serving in Connecticut's 3rd Regiment
Capt Jonathan Calkins is buried at Mullen HIll Cemetery in Waterford, New London County, Connecticut
