Biography

Jamestown Church Tower
Mary (Calvert) Chapline was a Jamestown colonist.

Mary, wife of Isaac Chapline, an ancient planter, came to Jamestown in 1622, aboard the ship James.[1] A kinsman, John Chaplaine, came on the voyage with her.[1]

By Feb 1624, the Chapline family was together at Isaac's settlement, called Chaplain's Choice.[2] A year later, when an official census was taken (Muster of 1624/25), they are still in the same location, listed with five servants and ample provisions:[3]
