Hosea is a son of Nathaniel and Winnifred Tarpley Camp. He is believed to have married Elizabeth Jordan on April 22, 1797 (not verified). He married Elizabeth Kennedy on July 11, 1806, in Jackson County, Georgia. Hosea served as a private in the War of 1812 with the 1st Regiment, Georgia Militia, commanded by Captain Harris. Hosea labored as a farmer and also served as a minister for the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Hosea and Elizabeth (née Jordan) have five known children:
