Samuel Candy, Jr. was the first child of Ka-ti, and was the grandson of Nan-ye-hi, Nancy Ward. He married a woman named Wutti/Betsy West about 1798. They were the parents of seven children, Ollie, Nancy, Thomas, George W., John W., Samuel, and Peggy. [1] Samuel took a reservation of land under the Treaty of 1817 stating that he had a family of six. The 1835 Cherokee census shows the family living on Candy's Creek, Cherokee Nation (now Tennessee). [2] Samuel died July 6, 1837. [3]
