According to Hubbard, "Comfort Carpenter married Thankful Canfield. They settled in Stanstead near the place known as Smith's Mills, in 1800. Mr. Carpenter built a saw mill that year, the first erected in the town. He died in 1806; she in 1851. Their children were Theodosia, m. Samuel Pinkham; Thankful, m. John Merrill; Caleb, m. Sarah Rogers; Charles, m Eliza Eaton; Persis, m Benjamin Tilton; Harvey, m Esther Wright; and Harriet, who m. Ebenezer Barry." See page 205[1]
