Mary Carter was born in 1712 at Corotoman plantation, Lancaster County, Virginia. She was a daughter of King Carter and Elizabeth Landon Carter.

This original post appeared to confuse George Braxton and Mary Carter with a later generation of George Braxton (1762-1801), the son of Carter Braxton, older brother to Carter Braxton, and Mary Walker Carter (1763-1830), d/o Charles Carter and Mary Walker.
