Zedekiah CASTLE[1] was born about 1778 in Virginia[2] and died after the enumeration of the 1850 United States Federal Census Record. Jenifer Allison stated that he passed away in 1851, but proof of this statement was not provided. His presence in the 1850 U. S. Census record of Lawrence County, Kentucky does support the fact that he was alive at the time of its enumeration. Therefore the statement has been made that he died after its enumeration.
Parents:
This individual has multiple sets of parents assigned to him:
Note: Joseph Jacob CASTLE and Jacob CASTLE, Jr. were probably the same individual and thus duplicate profiles. However, more research is needed to determine this due to vastly different Birth and Death information.
Birth Information / Estimates / Conflicts
Brian Phillips Ward stated that he was born about 1775. [Only source he gave was Shawnee Heritage II]
Tax List 1823 due in 1824: Zedekiah CASTLE, 1 White Male over 21 Years, 1 Horse, Taxed $50 [3]
At the time of the Tax list of 1823, Zedekiah CASTLE should have been about 45 Years old. The fact that he was not listed in the Tax list of 1822 points towards a time frame in which he settled in the county. However the tax list only lists him as being over the age of 21 years which would make the estimate of his birth years as before 1802.
Zedekiah CASTLE was believed to have been the head of his own household and listed within the age bracket of 26 to 45 Years. [Estimated Birth Years: 1775 - 1794] This individual was the oldest male listed within in the household and since his recorded age in 1850 was 72 years at the time of this 1820 census record he should have been about 42 years of age.
Zedekiah CASTLE was believed to have been the head of his own household and listed within the age bracket “40 to 50 Years”. [Estimated Birth Years: 1780 - 1790] This individual was the oldest male listed within the household. There is a discrepancy of his age in this census record of at least 2 years. His recorded age in 1850 as 72 years indicating that his age at the time of the 1830 census record should have been about 52 years of age.
“Name” was believed to have been a member of the household of “Name of Household” and listed within the age bracket of “Age Bracket”. This is due to the “name of record” which stated that this individual was “Age,” born in “Place” and the son / daughter of “Parent’s Names.”
“Zedekiah CASTLE” was listed as a member of his own household in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He was listed as being 72 Years in age and born in Virginia [Estimated Birth Year: 1778]
Death Information / Estimates / Conflicts
If no death record is found, include last census record and the first record in which the spouse is listed as a widow or if probate record include Will’s date of being written and date it was submitted to the court.
"Name as stated on document" was last seen mentioned in a / an "type of document" for "Individual who was subject of the document" dated on "Date of document" in "place of document. From this record, it would be probable that "name of the individual" was alive at the time of the event.

Marriages of Zedekiah Alan CASTLE / CASSEL
Marriage of Zedekiah Alan CASTLE to Julia Ann PENIX (Married: “Date”):
Zedekiah Alan CASTLE was married before 1820 in “Place” to Julia Ann PENIX.[35] Closest estimate based on individuals that are believed to have been their children would place this marriage around 1810 - 1812 and probably in Russell County, Virginia.
Marriage Notes / Estimates / Conflicts
1820 United States Federal Census Record states that Zedekiah CASSEL had a Free White Female living in his household that was aged 16 to 25 Years old. Also in this household were 3 Free White Females Under the Age of 10 and 2 Free White Males Under the Age of 10.[36] From the ages of the children listed, if they were children of Zedekiah that were born while he was married to Julia Ann PENIX, then it stands to reason that the marriage probably occurred before 1810 [this is allowing for 2 years between each child]. However the online digital records of marriage for Russell County, Virginia only begin around 1853. Upon further research it was discovered that a fire burned the first marriage register and most of the loose papers in the courthouse marriage records of Russell County, Virginia in 1872. Unless they married in a different county, I do not think a record of their marriage exists. If he served in the War of 1812, there may be a record in a pension of their marriage, or some statement of when the marriage occurred.
Biography of Julia Ann PENIX, wife of Zedekiah Alan CASTLE
Julia Ann PENIX[37] was born about 27 Dec 1795 in Virginia[38] and died after 1850 in “Place".[39]. She was the daughter of “Names”. [40] She is buried in “Place” [41]
Julia Ann PENIX is believed to have been a member of the household of Zedekiah CASSELL in Lebanon Township, Russell County, Virginia and listed within the age bracket of 16 to 26 Years old. This is due to the “name of record” which stated that this individual was “Age,” born in “Place” and the son / daughter of “Parent’s Names.”
“Name” was believed to have been a member of the household of “Name of Household” and listed within the age bracket of “Age Bracket”. This is due to the “name of record” which stated that this individual was “Age,” born in “Place” and the son / daughter of “Parent’s Names.”
