Richard Charlton (or Charleton), of Apley, Shropshire, was the son and heir of Robert Charlton, Esq., and Mary Corbet.[1] Weis estimates his date of birth to be about 1450.[2]
Richard married Elizabeth Mainwaring, daughter of William Mainwaring, of Ightfield, Shropshire, and his wife Margaret, daughter of Griffin Warren, Esq.[1] They had two sons and two daughters:
It is not a mistake to have two daughters named Anne listed for Richard Charlton. One Anne married Francis Yonge and the other Anne married Randall Grosvenor.[1]
