Disputed Spouse and Parents

No family history claims that Thomas was the son of Mathew Chase and Elizabeth Bold.^[1] He is being detached.

The wife of Thomas Chase was simply named Elizabeth and never described as the daughter of the Earl of Bath in her death record.^[2] He is being detached from Elizabeth Bouchier.

The legit. da. of the Earl of Bath would have married someone with status and property, which Thomas Chase was not. He was not a knight and not the Lord of the Manor of Hundridge. Sir Richard Dormer was the Lord of Hundridge. Thomas' 3 sons were involved in a legal matter over the unlawful killing of a buck, something that would never have happened had he been Lord of the Manor. [1].
