Her father might be: John Moss, b. Bef 1650, Gloucester County, Virginia, d. 10 Mar 1698, Essex County, Virginia - Probate; Mother: Mary Unknown, d. Aft 1698, Essex County, Virginia
William Cox was first married to an older daughter of John Mess (Moss) who was deceased before he wrote his will. John Mess named William Cox as a son in law in his will while William was married or soon to be married to Francis (MNU) Wood, widow of John Wood. She surely would've been named in that will if she were a daughter of John Mess.
27 July 1699, Estate of John Wood dec'd inventoried and appraised by Wm Cox, Frances Cox his wife and Tho Wood, exrs. of the estate of Jno Wood.[1]
There is no evidence of Francis being a daughter of John Chaney. Got to love those ancestry.com or myheritage family trees.
