Eleanor Cheney was born in Newbury, Essex, (then) Massachusetts Bay Colony on 29 March 1679, the daughter of Daniel[1][2] and Sarah (Bailey) Cheney.
Eleanor married first on 17 December 1696 in Newbury to Richard Shatswell/Satchell[3][4] by whom she had one son, Richard. Her first husband died in Ipswich on 17 May 1698.[5]
As a very young widow, Eleanor married, secondly, Thomas Safford in Ipswich on 07 Oct 1698.[6] With Thomas she had at least nine children. Eleanor Safford died in Ipswich on 22 December 1724.[7]
