Elijah Willis Christian was born in around 1743-1748, the son of Charles and Judith (Woodson) Christian. He served in the Revolutionary War attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant from Virginia. In around 1774 he married Elizabeth Britt, the daughter of William and Hannah (Connally) Britt, in Amherst County, Virginia.
Together, Elijah and Elizabeth would have the following children:

Obediah Mask Christian (1779-1816)
Charles Christian (1783-1852)
Jennie (Christian) Gaddis (1784- )
Hannah (Christian) Hunter (1785- )

Martha "Patsy" (Christian) Sewell (ca. 1794- )
Elijah Willis Christian, Jr. (1798-1874)
Elijah would pass away in 1801 at about 53 to 58 years of age.
