Louisa Tecumapese Christian married John Hile Gates (b. 1 Jun 1825, Tazewell Co., Virginia; d. 3 Apr 1874, Magoffin Co., Kentucky) on 10 Jun 1847 in Tazewell Co., Virginia. She died on 8 Sep 1864 in Kentucky, probably Lawrence Co., since John Hile Gates was, at that time, a 2nd Sgt. in Co. I, 39th Kentucky Infantry, USV, based in that county. They had eight children, four of whom lived to adulthood. John Hile Gates then married Nancy Jelina Oney (1826-1913), a widow, and that had three children. The youngest was my great-grandmother.
