Samuel Clark was the son of Nathaniel and Martha (Witt) Clark. he was born in Lebanon, CT and was baptized there in December 1753. He died in Russell NY, Aug 25, 1818 and is one of the founding families of that area and especially to area called "Clarks Corners" which is now North Russell.
When he was 12 his family moved to Granville MA on a road between Granville and Boxford. He married his wife and had their 11 children in Granville.
He came to ST Lawrence county, NY along with Russell Atwater and his group of settlers in 1807 from Vermont. (History of ST Law county ) > His Brother in law, Alvin White had moved there a year prior and had built a home out of native stone. Upon arriving there, Alvin While sold the property to him
She is buried in Russell Cemetery section C Lot C 32 and he is near her.
In the Clark Family book compiled by Cyril Backus Clark, The Direct Clark Ancestry of Edmund Clark, Jr. (1815-1902) of Russell St. Lawrence County, NY A Descendent of Daniel Clark(1622-1710) of Windsor, Connecticut, , we are given a record of how he came to Russell NY with a salt barrel on the back of his horse. He was among the first settlers of the region. He accepted a land grant from Russell Atwater and created what was called Clarks Corners. Each of his sons had farms there.
