John died in Carrikeel, Antrim Co., Province of Ulster, Ireland.
John emigrated from Scotland to Greblen, Ireland where he was employed by the Lord of Straban as a Salmon fisherman. He unfortunately ran up a significant enough debt as to be apprehended and forced to leave Griblen. His sons Hugh and James rescued him and they traveled by foot to the Foughen waters where he was protected and employed by Lord Askain.[1]
