Research Notes

  • Since Martha's mother was named Ann Ester (Annister), this makes sense that their daughter is named Annister or Annester, a contraction of Ann Ester.
  • Don't think Martha was married to John Cleveland. Her sister Elizabeth Coffey was married to John Cleveland. Needs further investigation.
  • Don't think Martha's middle name was Elizabeth; records confused Martha with her sister Elizabeth.

  • A child's birth date (Coffey-11 born 1690) should not be before a parent is six years old (mother Powell-162 born 1685) .

In reply to Karen Coffey's comment...I would say that Anne Ester Dulin was not her mother and that her birth date is correct, but I have no proof of this.

Martha's parents did not marry until 1699 / 1700. Her brothers Edward and John were older. She must have been born 1702-1703. Explain how a child of 6 or 7 gets married in 1709 and has a child???? I think we all need to rethink Martha's line.

Coffey-398 and Coffey-11 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same death date. Birth date is a guess anyway.  : )

Don't think Martha was married to John Cleveland. Her sister Elizabeth was married to John Cleveland.

Don't think her middle name was Elizabeth either.
