Biography

Lot Conant was born, probably then Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 16 February 1657[/8?]^[1] and baptized at First Church of Salem, 26 May 1662, together with siblings Nathaniel, John and Elizabeth.^[2] Lot Conant died, probably Beverly, before 10 January 1744/5 (date will proved).^[3] He was the son of Lot Conant and his wife, Elizabeth Walton.^[4]

Lot married (1), perhaps Beverly, about 1686 (birth of child), Abigail (Unknown) Conant (1665-bef.1698). Abigail _____ was probably born about 1665 (assumes she was aged 21 at marriage). She died, probably Beverly, between 24 February 1694/5 (named in baptism of child) and 14 June 1698 (husband married again). Her birth and parentage are unknown or unproven. See Research Notes.

Lot Conant [Jr.] married (2) in Beverly, 14 June 1698, Elizabeth Pride.^[5] She was born, say 1677 (assumes she was aged 21 at marriage), baptized with her siblings at Beverly First Church, 12 December 1686,^[6] the daughter of John Pride and Jane Lovering.^[7] As "The wife of Lot Conant, se.," Elizabeth was admitted to the First Church of Beverly, 23 February 1706/7.^[8][9]

3. Jonathan Conant, born 8 October 1692,^[16] baptized Beverly First Church, 16 : 8m : 1692 [16 October 1692].^[17][18]
4. Sarah Conant, born 2 November 1693,^[19] baptized Beverly First Church, 5, 9, 1693 [5 November 1693];^[20][21] no further record, probably died young.
5. Roger Conant, born 18 February 1694/5,^[22] baptized Beverly First Church, 24 February 1694/5;^[23] no further record, not mentioned in his father's will.^[24]

Birth Date. Still checking the double dating that supports 1657[/?8]. WIP.

Birth Location. A prior version of this profile reported Lot's birth at Beverly, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay, in 1656.7. He was probably born in then Salem, as Beverly was not formed until the late 1660s.

Wife Elizabeth Pride. A prior version of this profile reported she was born "Abt. 1666" and died "unknown;" also claimed she was baptized "12 Dec 1666 Beverly ..." She was almost certainly born considerably after 1666 as that date would have her aged about 55 at the birh of her last known child, 1720/1.
