Joshua Conant was born about 1630 in Salem to Roger Conant and Sarah Horton.[1][2]
Joshua married Seeth Gardner, daughter of Thomas Gardner. They had a son, Joshua, b. Apr. 15, 1657 at Salem, bap. Jun 4, 1657[3], who married Christian More, daughter of Richard More (or Mower) on Aug. 31, 1676. He married 2nd, Sarah Newcomb on Jan. 9, 1690-1. [4]
Joshua was a sea captain. They were living in Marblehead in 1657. Joshua died in England in 1659 and the inventory of his estate was taken on May 28, 1659. [5]
The value was 189 pounds, 17s.; charges due John Gardner, 35 pounds, 7s, 11d. In Nov. 1659: "This court doe appoint Thomas Gardner administrator to the Estate of Joshua Conant who dyed intestate in England and is to be accountable for said Estate." (County Court Records.)

Mr. Thomas Gardner's account: a note of what was dewe to mee from Josuah Connant: Wintering of 8 sheepe at 6s. per sheepe, 2 l i. 8s;
Hugh Jones testified that while he lived with his master Gardner, the latter wintered eight sheep for Joshua Connant, and deponent carried wood to his wife, " I gesse" upward of thirty loads, also corn and wheat, etc.
Jone (her F mark) Cotta, wife of Robert, testified, 20: 4: 1660, that she received of Thomas Gardner of Salem, eleven shillings for the keeping of Josuah Connant's sheep one summer. Phillip Cromwell's receipt dated June 10, 16 59, from "ould Mr Gardner" for a debt of 5li. 13s. 11d.
