Biography

Thomas Rich was born October 29, 1738 in Sutton, Worcester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of Elisha Rich and Mary Davis.

Thomas marries to Millicent Conant on August 9, 1770 in Warwick, Franklin, Massachusetts. Millicent Conant was born on August 25, 1754 in Dudley.

Thomas served in the War and was a First Lieutenant in Capt. Wright's Company. Thomas moves to Shoreham, Vermont in about 1786. In 1787 he builds a Saw Mill. Thomas died August 22, 1828 in Shoreham, Addison, Vermont, United States.

1. Charles Rich was born on September 13, 1771. Charles marries on September 24, 1791 to Molly Watts of Hartwick New York. Charles dies on October 24, 1824 in Shoreham, Vermont. He was a member of the State Legislature and in 1813 was elected to Congress.

2. Judith Rich born unknown. Died 1827 in Potsdam, New York. Marries to William Pitt Bailey in 1792.

3. Eben Rich was born in about 1775. Eben marries on September 6, 1708 to Elizabeth Stockwell.

4. John Rich was born on December 12, 1777. On January 29, 1801 John marries to Betsey Williams. He served in the US army and died at Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA.

5. Millicent Rich was born on November 18, 1779. Millicent marries on February 5, 1801 to Moulton Needham of Whiting, Vermont.

6. Anna Rich was born on October 14, 1781. Anna marries to Peter Ripley Leonard. Anna Rich dies at Pierrepont New York.

7. Clarissa Rich was born on January 29, 1784. Clarissa marries to Christopher Willson of Canton New York.

8. Samuel Rich was born on January 10, 1785. Samuel marries on January 29, 1804 to Mary "Polly" Bailey. Samuel was apparently a Lieutenant in the War of 1812. Samuel dies in Prescott, Ontario, Canada on December 18, 1828.

• Have not found Samuel Rich listed in the DAR Registry. Have not found any Lower or Upper Canada Land Claims supporting his war efforts. Neither Samuel or Mary Polly were listed in the Canada Census of 1825. Have not found Samuel Rich's burial place in Prescott, Ontario. (b. henry)

10. Lucinda Rich was born on July 31, 1789. Lucinda marries to Reuben Willson of Canton, New York.

11. Luretta Rich was born on August 5, 1791. Luretta marries on August 5, 1791 to Benjamin Healy of Potsdam, New York.

12. Ezra Rich was born on November 13, 1792. Ezra marries on November 13, 1792 to Esther Rich. Ezra died in 1809 at New London, Wisconsin, USA.
