Sir Walter de Cornwall, Coroner of Cornwall was born circa 1254 at Branell, Cornwall, England; He was illegitimate.[1]
"Walter de Cornwall was an illegitimate son of Richard Plantagenet, Earl of Cornwall. Sir Walter of Cornwall, who received a grant of the royal manor of Brannel, Cornwall, from his half-brother Edmund [2], 2nd Earl of Cornwall (d. 1300) in which he was called "brother". He was the father of William de Cornwall and grandfather of John de Cornwall.

He died circa 20 February 1313.[1][3]
Medieval Lands notes that Richard had a son Walter de Cornwall (d. 1313) who was not the son of Joan Valletort but rather by his second mistress, and her name is not known. [4]
"RICHARD de Cornwall, illegitimate son of RICHARD Earl of Cornwall & his mistress Jeanne de Valletort (-after 1280). The primary source which confirms his parentage has not been identified. He was granted the manor of Thunnock, Lincolnshire in 1280 by his half-brother Edmund Earl of Cornwall. m JOAN St Owen, daughter of JOHN Lord St Owen & his wife ---". [5]
